Album Review

BLOWSIGHT were formed five years ago and gained their audience with their constant touring, also alongside acts such as DANZIG, CINEMA BIZZARE, LIFE OF AGONY. In 2007 they won gold trophy in a Swedish Song Competition which saw their single released with SonyBMG and sold out in no time. Their cover of BRITNEY SPEARS' 'Toxic' brought them another wave of popularity, their first album 'Destination Terror Ville' came out soon after. Now they're knocking at the door for some attention to their second 'Dystopia Lane'.

The album sounds like they've cleansed Heavy Metal from all its aspects except for few heavy riffs or tones of the vocal at times into popular mainstream, its punk edge feared just the same, chopped up and packaged for the conventional appeal. The best way to describe that comes to one's mind is Metrosexual Metal. On the other hand they have no pretentions to be any other than this, so if one is to just consider them on the bases of "are they at least good as pop-rockers?", the answer is that they can do just fine though not on the level of the fun of MÖTLEY CRÜE or the melancholy of X JAPAN but the later day teen girl's mass market clean cut saints.

The romantically orientated lyrics deepen this impression further. Since it really accommodates specific tastes, I think it'll appeal to those already converted but will not make anyone else rush to get their album. It's a pretty and pleasant but somewhat sterile music, drowned out by so much of the same kind flooding the market like there is no tomorrow.
